Non-emergency medical transport

The Appalachian Police Department (APD) operates on-campus transportation for ill or injured students 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. The service operates year-round except on holidays and during scheduled academic breaks. Responding personnel will transport to the Health Services Infirmary (Miles Annas Building) or Watauga Medical Center for non-emergencies, as available. We will also provide transportation for employee Workers' Compensation injuries, both to and from Boone Urgent Care, when personnel are available. If Boone Urgent Care is closed, APD will transport employees with Workers' Compensation injuries to the Watauga County Medical Center Emergency Room. APD does not provide transportation for scheduled doctor appointments.

If students or employees require transportation for an emergency injury or illness, they should call 9-911 from a campus phone or 911 from any other phone to call for an ambulance to transport them to the Watauga County Medical Center Emergency Room.
