You may report a crime to App State Police in the following ways:
- For any emergency, call 911.
- For non-emergencies and requests for assistance, call APD directly at 828-262-8000.
- You may also report crime or suspicious activity by stopping by APD in person. We are located in the Rivers Street Parking Deck. Our professional and courteous staff is ready to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
Anonymous reporting:
- You may anonymously report a crime or suspicious activity using the Appalachian Safety App. Select the option to submit a tip.
- To report a crime or any suspicious activity anonymously in the Hickory area, call 828-466-2847 or visit the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Give a Tip page.
Reports of crimes made to other campus officials, such as Residence Life staff, professors and counselors, should also be referred to the App State Police. Crimes reported to App State Police will be investigated and the perpetrator(s) will either be prosecuted, referred to the Office of Student Conduct for discipline under the Student Code of Conduct, or both.
