Emergency notifications and timely warnings

In compliance with the Clery Act, App State will notify the campus community upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurring on the campus that involves a threat to the health or safety of students or employees. There are two types of notifications:

  • Emergency notifications are triggered by an event that is currently occurring on or imminently threatening the campus, and emergency communication procedures are initiated immediately upon confirmation that a dangerous situation or emergency exists that poses an immediate threat to the campus.
  • Timely warnings are triggered by crimes and incidents that may have already occurred but represent an ongoing threat. Timely warnings are issued for crimes and incidents that are considered to represent a serious or continuing threat to the campus, and are issued as soon as pertinent information is available.
