Safety Alert: Lovill Hall Fire Alarm
On April 24, 2016 at approximately 10:41 p.m., Appalachian’s University Police Communications received a fire alarm activation from Lovill Hall. University Police officers and Boone Fire Department responded to the alarm call and upon arrival found visible smoke and that the sprinkler system had activated on the 4th floor of Lovill Hall. The building has currently been evacuated with no injuries reported. University Police, Boone Fire Department and Appalachian’s Environmental Health, Safety & Emergency Management personnel are currently on scene determining the cause.
- When the smoke alarm or fire alarm sounds, get out of the building quickly and stay out.
- Learn your building’s evacuation plan and practice all fire drills as if they were the real thing.
- Never use the elevator when evacuating a building during a fire emergency.
